2017 desk calendar

I can't believe that I haven't posted anything for a year! It's been difficult for me to juggle both family and work. But I found to finish my 2017 calendar using my son's nap time and on weekends (my husband takes him out). yay!! It was so much fun to paint and design again. I'm very excited to announce that it is ready for sale in my easy shop:)

Drooling

Oh NOOOOOO!!!! STOP!!!! WATCH OUTTTTTT!!!!!
etc... There are no days that I don't say these words to my son. He is very "curious" to everything. Everyday is crazy for me :) He is not a baby anymore... but OMG he still drools A LOT like a baby even if he is already 19 months old. He started drooling when he was 2 months old (way before teething). I still have to change his bibs more than 10 times everyday. Anyway, his bibs are handmade of course. I like bandana style bibs recently because they look more boyish. I wonder when he will grow out of his drooling stage so we can go out without any bibs. He is still a 10 months old baby in the bottom photo:)

Hometown2

I was in Japan with my son for one month again. We were there from summer to early fall, so we were able to experience 2 seasons. The sudden environmental change made my son overwhelmed for a while but then he learned, felt and grew A LOT through all the new experience being there. We had such a great time. The greatest thing there was that I was able to witness my parents and my son bonding.

Because my parents house is a lot bigger than where we live now, he was able to run around, climb up and down stairs and do mischievous things like putting holes in all the shoji screens which made him take longer naps even if we didn't go out ;) Now, I'm back in San Francisco, and I don't know how to make him tired without any help :P

boy or girl

My latest DIY project for my son is a hat again. After he out grew the first hat I made for him, he was using a really cute hand me down hat for a while. But I lost it when we took a family vacation!! I was so shocked because I really liked it! Living in California without a hat is tough. I tried to find a new hat for him as soon as possible, but couldn't find a right one. So I decided to make it instead of wasting my time searching all over.  I reconstructed the pattern that I used before and created a cap type. Blue cotton /linen fabric should be a good choice since a lot of people think my son is a girl for some reason lol  He should definitely look like a boy now:)

4lb Mochi

One more event for my son's birthday.
It's a Japanese tradition to have the baby walk with 4lbs of mochi on their back for their one year celebration. By doing this, the baby will have a healthy life. I did it when I turned one. I could not even stand up according to my mom. My son was able to walk a little until he started crying crazy. He got so frustrated with the heavy mochi (about 4lb) and he tried to take it out from his back. It seemed like it was a horrible experience for him but he made everybody laugh:)

Happy 1st birthday!

It's been a while already... but my son turned ONE! He's been doing really well with full of energy. I made a birthday cake out of his solid food which he destroyed in minutes. I also made his birthday crown. I had a hard time taking a photo of him wearing it because he kept taking it off :( Anyway, Happy Birthday my love♡
