4lb Mochi

One more event for my son's birthday.
It's a Japanese tradition to have the baby walk with 4lbs of mochi on their back for their one year celebration. By doing this, the baby will have a healthy life. I did it when I turned one. I could not even stand up according to my mom. My son was able to walk a little until he started crying crazy. He got so frustrated with the heavy mochi (about 4lb) and he tried to take it out from his back. It seemed like it was a horrible experience for him but he made everybody laugh:)

Happy 1st birthday!

It's been a while already... but my son turned ONE! He's been doing really well with full of energy. I made a birthday cake out of his solid food which he destroyed in minutes. I also made his birthday crown. I had a hard time taking a photo of him wearing it because he kept taking it off :( Anyway, Happy Birthday my love♡

2015 wild apple desk calendar

Wild Apple 2015 calendar is available in my online store. I used water color again but I took a different approach this time. I played around more with the colors and painting techniques. My favorite one I did was using salt to create beautiful textures on the paint. I enjoyed creating the calendars A LOT!!  Please check it out my etsy shop:)

AE86

I made a drift car which is from Japanese anime Initial D for my son out of a pampers box. I'm not so into this kind of car but my husband is. He seems to enjoy driving around the house with it. My husband made a short video. Excuse our messy house lol

Baby quilt

Finally the baby quilt that I was working on is done. It took a while for the hand quilting part because I was stitching during my son's nap time. After all this hard work, I realized how small it was.... Well, my son seems to like it anyway.  I really respect people who make those huge quilt blankets!!

Hometown

I'm back in San Francisco! I was in Iwate, Japan for one month to spend time with my family. It has been 3years since I was last there and I had an amazing time:) Now, I'm fighting with heavy jet lag while taking care of my son :(

The photos below were taken in my hometown.  Beautiful rice field sceneries. It was such an ordinary scenery to me when I was a kid but now I appreciate the beauty of it.
