Getting our X'mas Tree

We finally got our Christmas Tree at a Tree Lot in the Embarcadero area last week. It was a freezing cold night which reminded me of the winter season in my hometown. But the scenery of colorful lights from the tree lot and the bay lights glowing together made it well worth it.

Hawaii

Right before the Black Friday event, My husband and I went to Hawaii for our 5th wedding anniversary. We spent 9 days there and had such a great time. Getting closer to the end of the trip, I started to get "withdrawal symptoms" of Haru(our dog) lol. We talked about him all the time since we missed him so much and also I brought the Dachshund tote bag which reminded me of Haru constantly :)

Black Friday Event

This past Black Friday, we were invited to be a vendor at Beats Eats and Fashion at Sole Space in Oakland. We had only 5 days to prepare, we made it on time:) There were a bunch of awesome vendors there like Chunky Pig, Tart Bakery, Plumeria Flours and Pleats & Wax. My husband and Haru  helped me a lot and were both wearing our new item "bow-tie". They looked very cute "Father and Son":) We had SO MUCH fun there and it was definitely a great experience for us since this was our first time to sell our items at an event. It was nice talking everybody who stopped by our booth. Thanks to all who supports us and a special thanks to Uptown Juice Company and Nancy Liu Chin Designs.

Baby bib photo shoot

I had a bib photo shoot the other day with my friend's son who just turned one year old. During the photo shoot, there were two dogs roaming around so it became a little difficult. But it was so much fun! Special thanks to my friend Ayako, her son Itto and my husband. Thanks for patiently waiting for us, 2 doggies Zum and Haru. We got really cute photos! I'm so excited:)

2014 wild apple desk calendar

Last year, I introduced my annual calendar project on my blog and I recently recreated it into a 2014 calendar for my shop. I used water color for the illustrations. The calendar is 5"W x 6.25"H and is made with off white heavy weight stock which has a nice texture. The cover is a illustration of an apple which can be a nice card for anything. Please check it out! It will be a perfect little gift for X'mas :)

Baby Plush Toys

I recently updated my Etsy Store with two kinds of organic baby plush toys. Swaddled Baby has a small squeaker inserted and makes really cute noises. It also has a string that comes out from the bottom allowing you to hang the toy on your baby stroller. I personally love this item because the swaddled baby's expression makes me smile :) Another new item is the Wiener Dog Toy which has three hoops. Your baby can play with the hoops by putting it on the wiener dog body and taking out. Both toys comes in yellow or lavender. Please check them out :)

Diaper Change Mat

One of my friends told me that she wanted a small diaper change mat which can easily fit in her bag and also fit her baby's lower body. So I made it for her by using organic fabric scraps. The face which touches the baby's skin is made by organic bamboo fleece. Her baby is a boy, so in addition to the mat, I made some bow ties :) It looks so cute on him!!

Summer?

I've been living in San Francisco for several years but I still can't get used to the cold summers here. This morning, my thick sweater wasn't warm enough so I finally decided to turn on the house heater :(  I miss real summer..... At least this picture was taken on a super rare warm day in Golden Gate Park's Rose Garden with Haru♡

Foldable

I recently updated some new items on my Etsy shop. Foldable Totes and Pouches are made with 55% Organic Cotton and 45% Hemp, which is durable and suitable for everyday use. Since a majority of stores in San francisco started charging for paper bags, I always put this folded tote in my bag and "forgot my shopping bag today!" never happens anymore ;) The Pouch is flat when nothing inside but the bottom gusset shows up when you put something in it. Please check it out!

pastel colors

It's been quite nice and warm in San Francisco. I heard that the cherry blossoms fully bloomed a lot earlier than usual in Tokyo this year. I had a chance to go see some cherry blossoms in the bay area and had a mini picnic under them. The pastel pink of the flowers made me happy :) I see many pastel colors everywhere in the city now. Spring is a fun season for colors. The other day,  I fell in love with the coral pink linen at a fabric store and I had to get it for myself and for my store!

Beautiful Garden

If you are a garden lover, you must go to Flora Grubb Gardens in San Francisco. I'm a huge fan now. It is such an inspirational and wonderful place!! I was so amazed the whole time there. The beautiful collections of succulents and tillandsias are beautifully displayed and made me want to decorate my house with a lot of plants. There is also a Ritual Coffee Roasters bar, so I was hanging out there for quite a while... I tried arranging my own Aerium. It came out pretty cute and I'm very happy with it :)  I also bought the cutest succulent I've ever seen ;) I will share more about it to you later. My photos are not good enough to tell you how amazing the place was......
You must check this place out!

Tohoku lacquer-craft

I would like to introduce one of the great things about Tohoku, the place I grew up. A few months ago, my mom visited me in San Francisco. It was such a short stay but we had a great time. She brought a beautiful broach for me which she got in Aomori ( one of the prefecture in Tohoku) . The broach has a lacquer-tree sap finish and its a Japanese traditional craft which is called Tugaru-nuri.  Tugaru-nuri lacquer work from Aomori has always been near me growing up, I love the beauty of lacquer finish look and the power of natural materials. Also I feel very strong spirits of the craftsmen of these. I appreciate Japanese traditional  craft even more since I moved to America...

It's been already 2 years since 3/11 (Tohoku Earthquake Tsunami). I won't forget it and I will continue to do my best to support them.

I have been making some new items with organic cotton 55% / hemp 45%. I will announce the new items when they are ready in my shop. Have a great weekend!

Happy New Year!

How was your holidays? I used to go back to Japan and spend new years in freezing cold Iwate(my hometown). But the last few years I didn't have chance to go back there. So I tried my best to follow the Japanese/my family tradition here in San Francisco for new years:) like detail cleaning of our whole house and cooking Zoni(mochi soup) and so on... I had a great time! Hope all of you will have a great year with full of love and happiness in 2013:)
